It doesn't matter if it's 5 or 500 people. If you're an independent business or blogger then that number can be seen as a success.

But how do you get there? How do you improve your website's search engine optimization so that it's ranking on the first page of Google?

There are entire courses that focus just on SEO, but not everyone has the time to invest in one. Here are 3 tips for improving your search engine optimization.

Even if you have a business, many people choose to use generic keywords, like "website", or "blog". Think about what people would search online to find your website though. Do you make wedding dresses? Then use relevant keywords like "wedding dress", or "bride". Be specific with the words you use.

Google actually provides a site: search feature that will show you what people are looking for when they navigate to your website. This is one of the best ways I've found to determine what my visitors want and how they're searching for it. If you use this, don't forget to switch it back to the original setting!

If you try and use too many keywords then Google might think your website is there just to make money from advertising; not to help the reader find information. It's also possible that your keywords can be misinterpreted as spam by Google. Keep in mind that Google isn't only looking at the words on the page, but also where those words appear.

Use your keywords in your hyperlinks, but don't overdo it. Be natural with the words that you choose. For example, if my website is called "Amazing Wedding Dresses", I might link the word "wedding" to a webpage about weddings. Don't link your keywords too much though or Google will look at it as keyword spamming. Also, make sure that the websites you are linking to are relevant to what you're writing about on your own website! This can help them gain exposure and give both sites better search engine optimization.

If you want to improve your search engine optimization and get more organic traffic, it is time for you to take action. Choose keywords carefully so people can find what they're looking for on Google or Bing. Avoid overstuffing content with keywords in an attempt to manipulate the algorithm--that's a surefire way of losing rankings with no chance of getting them back. And lastly, make sure any links from other websites are relevant in order to maintain high-quality SEO results in the long run!
